Steps to take if your temporary password expired and you can't log in.
Users may receive temporary passwords under two conditions:
1. User is new and was issued a temporary password for setting up initial credentials
2. An existing user was sent a temporary password by Cognosos RTLS due to a forgotten password
Each of these require the assistance of your RTLS Administrator, but can be addressed directly from the Cognosos portal.
Scenario 1: New Cognosos Luminate User
When a user is set up initially, the system sends an email invitation to set up their credentials. The temporary password is good for 7 days and the new user may not have gotten the email in time.
The Administrator should locate the user on the Users page (System Management) and invoke the Resend Invite option. This is available only for new users who did not initially set up their credentials.
The user should check their email Inbox for the Cognosos invitation. The email goes to the email address in the user profile so confirm if needed. Have the user check their spam or junk box if they do not receive the email.
Scenario 2: Established User
A user may have forgotten their password so used the forgot your password? link from the portal's login page. This initiates a temporary password that is sent to the user via email to the address in the user's profile. The temporary password is good for 7 days and the user may not have gotten the email in time.
Option 1: Go to the portal login page. Enter your user name and select the forgot your password link? to receive a new temporary password. Check your email within one week to change your password.
Option 2: Ask your Administrator should locate the user on the Users page (System Management) and use the Reset Password Manually option.
Go to Fixing Login Issues of you need assistance with other issues logging into the portal.
