Options for attaching and detaching tags to/from assets.
The portal has multiple inroads for attaching, detaching, and replacing tags. When a vehicle and tag are attached, it means that tag has been physically placed in the automobile, and both the vehicle and tag have been defined within the system with a relationship between the two. Users with the role of Standard and Administrator have access to this feature.
Vehicle and tag relationships can be defined from the:
Vehicles Tab - attach or detach from Vehicles tab
Vehicle Details - detach tag, replace tag
Tags Tab - attach and detach from Tags tab
Best Option! Replace Tag
Unless you are permanently removing a tag from a vehicle, the Replace Tag option on Vehicle Details is the most efficient method to detach and re-attach a tag. Locate the necessary vehicle either in My Lot or on the map. Use click to see more from map's right menu with a selected vehicle or click the Vehicle ID link in My Lot.
Note: If the vehicle does not have an attached status, the Replace Tag button does not appear.
Input a new valid Tag ID (status of unattached, normal battery) and click Next. Input vehicle attributes and click Submit to complete the replacement.
Attach Option 1: My Lot Vehicles
Open Vehicles tab in My Lot. Click Attach from the Vehicles menu. Alternatively, locate the vehicle and choose the Attach icon from the Actions column.
If attach was initiated through the Actions column, the vehicle ID will auto-populate in the Vehicle ID field in the tag attach window. If no vehicle was selected, both fields will be blank. Input information as needed. Click Next.
Provide the vehicle attributes by completing the custom fields.
Use the drop-down lists or input values for vehicle details as needed. Add new values to custom fields as needed. Select Submit to complete the input or Back to change the tag or vehicle ID. When complete, the vehicle/tag information is updated across the portal.
Attach Option 2: Vehicle Details
When a vehicle has the status of unattached, the Vehicle Details page will display the Attach Tag option. Access the Vehicles Details page from the map or My Lot by.
Select that option to set up the tag. The workflow follows as outlined in Attach Option 1.
Attach Option 3: My Lot Tags
Open the Tags tab under My Lot. You may use filter or search to look up and attach a specific device. Select Attach from the Tag menu or use Attach from the Actions column. Ensure a sufficient battery level in the selected tag.
In the Tag Attachment pop-up window input proper values into the Tag ID (if no Tag selected) and Vehicle ID fields. A valid, unique tag ID and vehicle ID are required to complete the operation.
Select Next to continue.
The process to add vehicle details continues as described in Attach Option 1. Once complete, the tag/vehicle attachment is updated across the portal and in the mobile app.
Detach Option 1: My Lot Vehicles
Open the Vehicles list under My Lot. Locate the vehicle and and choose Detach from the Actions column; or simply select Detach from the Vehicles menu.
Only the tag or vehicle ID is required to perform the operation. If blank, input the correct ID for either.
Select Confirm to continue the process or Cancel to disregard the action. Once detached, the automobile can no longer be tracked through the portal.
This operation removes the relationship between the tag and the vehicle. If you need to continue tracking the vehicle, attach a new tag and ensure the new tag is with the vehicle.
Detach Option 2: Vehicle Details
Use this option to detach a tag from a vehicle without replacing it (e.g., car sale). Open the Vehicles page under My Lot. Locate the vehicle and tag that need to be detached from one another. From the Vehicle Details page select Detach Tag.
The Vehicle Detachment pop-up window opens. Confirm the detachment. Detaching the tag removes the relationship between the tag and the vehicle. If you need to continue tracking the vehicle, attach a new tag and ensure the new tag is with the vehicle.
Detach Option 3: My Lot Tags
Open the Tags tab under My Lot. To detach a tag, select the Detach menu option or locate the tag to detach and use the icon from the Actions column.
A valid tag ID is required to complete this operation. Select Confirm in the Vehicle Detachment pop-up window to continue. Otherwise select Cancel to return to the Tags list without making changes.
Once detached, that Tag and vehicle will no longer be connected for location services and data gathering purposes. Attach a new tag to maintain location and information services for the vehicle.
