What do I do if my driver badge is not working?
Use the troubleshooting steps below if your driver badge stops reporting information or fails to work when issued.
- If using a brand new badge from box, power on the badge by pressing and holding the Cognosos firefly logo on the front of the badge. Look for the little blue light to illuminate to the left of the logo. Once powered on, there is no way to turn off the badge.
- Driver badge batteries are designed to last for approximately one year. If a badge stops working and is no longer appearing on the Driver Badge report:
- Go to the Events page (from hamburger menu or bell icon) and click Driver Badge Report. The report defaults to all driver badge events; filter by driver badge ID (10-digit number code on the back of the badge located under the barcode).
- Once filtered view displays, click Download CSV. Open the file and go to Column L Retire Date for that driver badge ID. If within one month of that date, assume that the battery life has expired. Retrieve the badge and issue a new one. Ensure to update the issue date and 10-digit badge ID on your organization’s driver badge spreadsheet for that team member. Follow company procedures for old driver badge disposal or return.
- Take the driver badge into a vehicle with a status of Attached/Active. Move the vehicle a minimum of 6'. Run a Driver Badge Report (see #2) for that driver badge ID. If the badge does not appear with the vehicle movement (Vehicle Details > Movement History) for that drive, assume that battery no longer works. Retrieve the badge and issue a new one. Ensure to update the issue date and 10-digit badge ID on your organization’s driver badge spreadsheet for that team member. Follow company procedures for old driver badge disposal or return.
