Steps to properly install and remove asset tags onto/from equipment.
How to install an asset tag onto equipment:
1. Check the Cognosos asset tag placement guide to see the correct
location and orientation of the tag per equipment type.
2. Clean the area on the equipment where the tag will be installed with
isopropyl alcohol wipe, or similar. Dry the area with a clean paper
towel or air dry.
⛔ Never submerse asset tag or equipment into any kind of liquid!
3. Peel the red adhesive backing from a corner and remove completely.
4. Press and hold firmly the tag on the equipment for a minimum of 10 seconds. Make
sure that the tag is securely placed on the selected equipment.
5. Associate tag and asset using the Attach Tag option under My Site Assets, My Site Tags, or on the Asset Details page.
How to remove an asset tag from equipment:
1. Insert Cognosos key between the asset tag and the cradle mount. Clean both the asset tag and the cradle mount with isopropyl alcohol and clean towel or cloth.
2. Starting at the corner of the cradle mount, slide a metal edge scraper or
flat head tool and gently apply even pressure away from yourself.
Remove tag from equipment and store in a designated bin or drawer.
3. Clean the residual adhesive with isopropyl alcohol or light abrasive pad
until no black markings remain on the equipment.
4. Detach tag from the asset via the Cognosos portal from the Vehicle Details page, My Site Assets or My Site Tags page. This step is imperative for maintaining proper inventory data and the equipment’s historical information.
