To reset and test an OBD tracker:
- First, locate the tracker (note that the location on the map represents the tracker’s last known location, which might not be current if the tracker is having issues).
- After locating the tracker, uninstall it and disassociate it from the vehicle per the normal process.
- Charge the tracker for 1 hour.
- Take the tracker outdoors (within range of the gateway if using a LoRa network) and ensure there is no overhead obstruction. Shake the device to force a movement message and then place the device on a still surface for 2 minutes to force a stop motion message.
- In your UI, check the status of the tracker on the Trackers page and look for "Last Message Timestamp". You would expect that timestamp to be recent based on your testing above.
- If needed, repeat this process three times.
If the tracker does not return to expected behavior, mark it for return and set it aside with any other defective trackers.
If the tracker starts operating normally, return it to the storage area with all your other working, unassociated trackers.
